SALARY: STARTING PAY $21.82 HOURLY USD
JOB SUMMARY:
Responsible for a wide-range ofpublic works maintenance initiatives related to street maintenance and repairs,traffic operations activities, and stormwater maintenance.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
1. Ability to operate and maintain a variety of vehicles and equipment for maintenance and repair of city assets related to streets, traffic, and stormwater infrastructure. This includes all related equipment used for emergency operations response for the city. The equipment is listed in the following categories:
a) Vehicles - Two-ton dump truck, tandem dump truck, pothole patch truck, concrete mixer truck, winch truck, grapple truck bucket truck, sign truck, crew cab, pick up.
b) Street Maintenance equipment and tools - Asphalt roller, crack seal applicator, concrete grinder, concrete saw, air compressor, jack hammer, circular and quickie saws, and related hand tools in repairing or maintenance of concrete and asphalt streets.
c) Traffic Maintenance equipment and tools - Sign installation equipment, thermoplastic markings machine, mechanical post-hole diggers, mechanical trencher, trenchers, pole climbing equipment, splicers and assisting with bucket truck operations, Vac-Trailer and necessary equipment and tools for repairing and maintaining all traffic control devices including but not limited to: Traffic Cones and Barricades, Guardrails, Roadway Signage, Handrails and all Pavement Markings.
d) Stormwater Maintenance equipment and tools - Chainsaws, weed eaters, assisting with operations of winch trucks, skid steers, bobcats, Menzi muck, gradall, vac truck and camera truck, and related hand tools required for maintenance and repair of drainage structures.
e) Emergency Operations Equipment and Tools - Emergency operations trailer, sand trucks, salt brine trucks, snow plows, pick up spreaders, grapple truck, chain and pole saws, generators and placement of temporary stop signs.
2. Ability to understand and interpret Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT), Texas Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices (TxMUTCD), and Texas A&M Engineering Extension Service (TEEX)rules, regulations, plans, and guidelines; and to place and utilize all related safety devices per code and/or design. Ability to serve as flag-person to divert traffic safely around construction sites.
3. Ability to service, clean, and maintain equipment, perform walk-around inspections, make minor repairs and service fluids, fill out equipment logbook, and maintain tools and equipment per manufacturers specifications and guidelines.
4. Ability to input daily work activities, utilize and maintain integrity of information in CarteGraph OMS work order management system.
OTHER JOB FUNCTIONS:
5. Ability to perform tasks in all three divisions of Field Operations and other duties as needed or assigned.
