Job: Surgery Scheduling Coordinator

Position Summary
The Scheduling Coordinator must schedule hospital procedures consistent with the patient's diagnosis, procedure request, and hospital policy. The Scheduling Coordinator must be able to respond to both written and oral correspondence regarding scheduling changes/cancellations in a timely, accurate manner. Individual must be organized and able to manage a demanding workload with accuracy.

Essential Functions
-Schedules hospital based medical procedures/cases, for patients with appropriate provider and time/location slot, utilizing appropriate hospital policy
-Interfaces with appropriate vendor staff and other departments to ensure all necessary equipment will be on site
-Enters notes/special instructions needed for scheduling in the electronic medical record
-Ensures proper authorization and documentation is available in EPIC before surgery/PSH appointment
-Coordinates and schedules special procedures between EEG and Radiology, Cardiac Rehab, and
-Pediatric Clinic
-Types Operating Schedule, daily and weekend call schedules and delivers them to appropriate departments
-Keeps physician privileges book current, filling appropriate privileges as they are delivered, and notifies -Medical Staff Coordinator of new physicians' upcoming procedures
-Adheres to and follows all patient experiences initiatives
-Assists other members of the department as needed
-All other duties as assigned
-Follows and adheres to TRMC vaccine policy(s) mandated by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS).

Work Experience
-1-3 years of experience in healthcare scheduling, or equivalent combination of education and experience preferred.
-Familiarity with EPIC preferred.

Education
-High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
